FAQ - TESTING

First, LabDoor buys dietary supplements and energy drinks off retail shelves and sites. Then, we send each product to an FDA-registered laboratory for a detailed chemical analysis. Our technical team then collects the laboratory results and builds algorithms to translate this data into simple grades and rankings.
More information here.

WHERE ARE THE PRODUCTS TESTED?

All chemical testing is performed at FDA-registered analytical laboratories that have been qualified and selected by LabDoor based on their expertise in food, supplement, OTC, and pharmaceutical analyses. These facilities also carry various federal (USDA, DEA, EPA) and state licenses and accreditations.

Submit your laboratory for pre-qualification review.

ARE THERE ANY SUPPLEMENTS THAT YOU DO NOT PLAN TO TEST OR SELL?

Yes. We do not plan to test or sell supplements that are unsupported by scientific evidence. One example of this is raspberry ketone supplements. To date, LabDoor has found zero significant clinical trials that support the health benefits of this supplement category. Thus, we will not be testing or selling products in this category until further notice.

HOW OFTEN DOES LABDOOR TEST PRODUCTS?

New product categories will be added to our site every month, and each product will be re-audited at least once every 12 months.

HOW WILL YOU DECIDE WHAT PRODUCTS TO TEST?

We fill our product testing queue in three key ways:

  1. We identify popular supplement categories and products based on consumer sales and usage data, and sponsor these tests ourselves.
  2. Our mobile and web applications are crowdsourcing tools - products receiving heavy search and scan traffic are tagged for expedited testing.
  3. Coming soon to LabDoor's iOS and web apps: One-click voting to help LabDoor crowdsource the products and categories we will test next.

CAN COMPANIES REQUEST THAT LABDOOR ANALYZE THEIR PRODUCTS?

Companies can voluntarily submit their own products for a full LabDoor analysis here. We have committed to covering all costs associated testing products chosen by LabDoor or our users; however, we will ask companies requesting their own products for testing to cover these costs themselves.

ARE COMPANIES ALLOWED TO CHALLENGE ANY OF LABDOOR'S RESULTS?

We are open to science-based conversations with all manufacturers. If you believe a rating deserves to be changed, please submit a request (complete with objective data backing up your assertion) to contact@labdoor.com.
